Thousands flock to weed shops as Illinois’ pot prohibition comes to an end

It was a mob scene in Chicago and across the state on Wednesday, the 1st day of recreational marijuana sales in Illinois. Thousands lined up across the Chicago area, some before dawn — for the chance to buy marijuana legally for the first time. But there were also glitches. Some dispensaries ran out of product and had to turn people away.  Among those in line, was Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton. Her purchase? A 100-milligram tin of Mindy’s Edibles Glazed Clementine Orange Gummies.
