Modesto, a city in California’s Central Valley, once very hostile to cannabis, is now raking big dollars from the weed. More money than from hotels and tourism. In a major turnaround, the city is believed to now have the first sanctioned “citywide cannabis tourism program” in the United States, Modesto’s official convention and visitors bureau is now officially promoting Modesto’s cannabis dispensaries as tourism draws, with what they call a “cannabis passport.
