The colonial style building, with big rooms, gardens and great views is in the middle of a former plantation, is only 25 years old, but was built and decorated to simulate the feel of a 19th century great house. Guests love Tamarind Great House’s relaxed vibe, spacious bedrooms, and large balconies– far from the crowded tourist towns. It is a calm and relaxing place; you can spend all day on the verandah taking in the views and watching hummingbirds feed.

A ganja friendly property

Tamarind allows guests to smoke anywhere on the property – except in the rooms. A herb house visit can be arranged after airport pick up. in Montego Bay or Kingston and the great house will be happy to facilitate transportation to a herb house in Ocho Rios for guests to replenish their stash or just hang out in a smoking lounge for a few hours. Ganja farm tours can also be arranged.

Off the beaten path

Dining at Tamarind Great House

Meals are served on the veranda and are one of the highlights of staying at Tamarind Great House. While you enjoy one of Gillian’s lovely breakfasts you can watch birds fluttering past and take in the beautiful flowers and plants. The ambiance is unbeatable. Gillian cooks like a chef and you will be served delicious fish from her own pond as well as veggies and fruit from her own garden. Among other things, you will love her banana cake!
