One of the best budget hotels in Negril

Sunrise Club is a 14-room budget hotel located on Norman Manley Boulevard, Negril’s main thoroughfare, across the street from the famous Seven Mile Beach. The resort started in the late sixties as a reggae club catering to a hippie generation looking for good vibes, reggae music and weed, but is now a small, beautifully landscaped boutique hotel with colorful, air-conditioned, individually decorated rooms; easy access to Seven Mile Beach; and, comfortable, affordable accommodations within walking distance of local shops and restaurants. Its quiet, warm, relaxed, inviting atmosphere makes it a wonderful place from which to experience Negril and its central location makes it a popular meeting spot for Jamaicans and tourists.

A distinctly Italian vibe

The resort’s Italian owner Luca brings a little slice of Italy to Negril with his on-site restaurant, which serves Italian cuisine, brick-oven pizza, and excellent espresso. It specializes also in lobster and has a dedicated menu’ to taste lobsters in different ways and flavors. And although they get bookings from The US and elsewhere, the clientele seems to be largely Italian. With an Italian owner, some Italian staff and Italian guests, Sunrise Club is probably the only place in Jamaica where Italian is more widely spoken than English.

Ganja experiences

Sunrise Club allows guests to smoke on the property. What’s more, the hotel is close to 3 dispensaries which makes it easy and convenient for guests to replenish their supple, learn about Jamaica strains and perhaps hang out for an hour or two in a smoking lounge.
