In Maroon country

You’ll find O&G Guesthouse on a mountaintop in the Maroon Sovereign State of Accompong – a small, friendly and very safe village on the southern end of Jamaica’s Cockpit Country (the island’s largest remaining contiguous rainforest) about 90 minutes from the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. The Accompong community is warm and welcoming with residents that are eager to share their hospitality as well as the peculiar, courageous and still vibrant history of their ancestor Maroons – communities of runaway slaves who fought and won their independence from the British in the 18th century. A nearby Cultural Center traces the history of freedom from British control in 1738 and highlights cultural traditions that remain alive to this day.

Gorgeous views wherever you look

The guesthouse is topped off with a bar, tearoom, and large veranda to relax while taking in panoramic 360 scenic views of the mountains, sunrise, sunset, and stars galore. O& G Guesthouse is laso a perfect base from which to explore trails, rivers, and medicinal plants that nourish the Maroon way of life, honoring its history and values. African drumming, dancing and reggae music fill the hills with joy. Appleton Rum Estate and YS Falls are a short drive away.

Lots of small ganja farmers

Accompong is in the middle of ganja country. Weed is easily available from scores of small farmers and you can buy, smoke and carry ganja anytime anywhere. This village is a sovereign state and not subject to the laws of Jamaica!

Very hospitable hosts

The “O” and “G” in the property’s name are owners Oral and Gretchen who also live in the guesthouse. Oral was born in Accompong and Gretchen is an American who joined him some years ago. They are available to take care of the needs of their guests and their kindness and generosity will make you immediately feel welcome, comfortable, and satisfied. They want you to enjoy each moment in their little paradise as much as they do.

Meals

A continental breakfast, featuring seasonal fruits, is incuded in O&G’s package. All meals feature produce locally sourced in Accompong. The gusthouse is also offering one catered meal and reduced rate on all other meals ordered. There are restaurants and cookshops just up the road that offer tasty Jamaican fare. Stores and bars throughout the village have snacks and provisions for guests who’d like to prepare their own meals. Each suite comes with a full kitchen.
